The Violinist

'The Violinist' was devised, directed and acted by other students in my class. It focused on themes of abortion and identity as shown through the metaphor of a musican and her violin.
I used costume to help tell the story by having the girl in a very girly, round dress which I sourced and dyed red at the bottom. The red ribbon then links to the violin which acted as a baby as a tie and sort of umbiblical cord. The hand print I cut from lino and printed stood for other people pushing their choices onto the girl. The doctor has a similar exaggered costume to show the nature of the play as seen with the cropped blazer which I added padding to and large ribbon. I used a red, white and black colour palette.
